D Dalla Terra – Black Truffle Peelings – 12.3 oz
Also known as Scorzone truffles in Italian because of their thick outer "bark" which distinguishes them from other fresh truffles, Black Summer Truffles are available for much of the year, although fully ripe in the summer months. Grown in Northern Italy, these peelings, from the whole truffle , are preserved in water and salt (brine). They have a wide range of uses in the kitchen, elevating every dish thanks to the delicate aroma and umami flavor. Particularly suited for use in pasta dishes, or paired with meats and crostini. A cost effective way to add expensive truffle flavor.
Serving Suggestions
Use Truffle peelings for appetizers, mashed potatoes, or over mozzarella. Use where you would never consider using a fresh truffle, flavor creamy soups, infuse stocks and amp up sauces. Use for texture and appearance, and finish the dish with a drizzle of black truffle flavored oil. Try in a cheese and truffle fondue. Excellent for preparing sauces, as an accompaniment to beef fillets or adding to a simple omelette.
