Francesco Lombardo carries on the tradition started by his father , now with a delightful Trapanese pesto , crafted to replicate this traditional Sicilian recipe. This variant of the classic pesto is an ancient traditional recipe from western sicily, originating from the Port of Trapani. Genovese ships from the East stopped in Trapani, this is how the Sicilians tasted the Genovese pesto and decided to modify the recipe, adding typical Sicilian ingredients, fresh tomatoes, almonds ( instead of pine nuts,) cheese and basil leaves - Pesto alla Siciliana. A delicate and aromatic flavor,with slightly acidic notes. Dark red in color, with a truly inviting scent.

Combine with La Montanara Fusilli “Pasta cu l’agghia” for hot or cold pasta dish , top with toasted breadcrumbs “muddica” also known as pangrattato.
